Iowa Corrections Association
ICA addresses the full range of our state's correctional issues. Since its inception in 1957,
ICA has done so with a competent, skilled, and enthusiastic membership. The Association prides itself as being one of the strongest state correctional organizations in the nation.

ICA spans a broad base of correctional programs: adult and juvenile, institutional and community, male and female.  Whatever your professional realm, there is a place and need in ICA for YOU.

ICA is effective because its members are actively involved.  Our mission is to enlighten, educate, serve, and support.  ICA is corrections in Iowa.

Message from the President
I want to start by first thanking our departing Board members, Peg (Maynes) Long and Teneil Cangas, for their dedication and hard work and congratulate Katrina McKibbin for being re-elected to the Board. I also want to welcome the new members to the Board; Janet Stange, Jamey Beltman and Teresa O’Tool. Things are coming together nicely as we move toward the conference this fall in Dubuque.

The primary purpose of this message is to take the opportunity to recognize our departing Treasurer; Jane Jansen. Jane works in the 1st Judicial District and has been Treasurer of ICA for the last 12 years.

When she began, all the books were kept on paper and a spreadsheet, which she converted to the Quicken Books program. She has skillfully managed the accounts as hundreds of thousands of dollars passed through with year after year of successful audits.

In addition to all the ICA funds, the Board approved for other agencies to have funds pass through, including the Midwest Warden’s Association Conference, the Midwest Deputy Warden’s Association Conference, the Women Working in Corrections and Juvenile Justice National Conference, the Iowa Department of Corrections 25th Anniversary Event and the national Make A Smile program (corrections personnel building playgrounds in natural disaster areas).

She has proficiently managed the transition to online payments and balancing accounts with the new ICA Website/Membership Database. She has done this all while being an integral part of the 2011 opening of a new Women’s Facility in Waterloo.  In 2012, she won a First District Special Recognition Award for her outstanding organizational skills and the success of the facility opening and running smoothly.    She is professional, helpful and friendly to everyone who walks through the door.

In 2007 she received the Lowell Brandt Outstanding ICA Member of the Year Award.

She has loved working for this organization, appreciates everyone’s support and will miss it, but will now have more time to spend with her greatest loves – her family – especially grandsons Jack and Christian!

Jane, thank you for everything!
